CWNC is currently a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. But we envision so much more.
Traditionally, non-profits are funded primarily through grants and large private donors. We at CWNC value a collective, grassroots funding structure where many small contributions from our local community add up to support this regional-scale work. This structure returns power and voice into the hands of our local community members, so that we may hold each other accountable and work together towards our common goal of a robust, thriving, compassion-centered regional economy and community.
This is decentralized power, this is mutual aid for long-term sustainability.
Your membership contributions directly fund the efforts of Cooperate WNC, including mutual aid and sustainability education, regenerative agriculture support and promotion, and the connection of community hubs across WNC into a cohesive, supportive network of resource sharing and relationship building.
Additionally, 10% of each membership payment will go into a Mutual Aid Relief Fund to be allocated to community members in times of acute financial distress.
